Student Policies & Guidelines
Each student will be provided with an identification card, featuring a photo attested by the principal, containing the student's particulars. This ID card must be kept with the student at all times and presented upon request.
A minimum of 85% attendance in both classroom and clinical areas is mandatory.
Attendance during the orientation program, held during the first week of joining the college, is compulsory for all selected candidates.
Class schedules will be displayed on the bulletin board.
The college will remain open from Monday to Saturday, between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
All classes will begin at the scheduled time. A five-minute break will be provided after each class.
It is the students' responsibility to attend all theoretical and clinical sessions to avoid missing class notes, assignments, and tests.
Students must be in the classroom 10 minutes before the session begins. Students arriving more than 10 minutes late will not be allowed to enter the class.
The passing marks for each subject are 60% for both theory and clinical components.
Classroom and clinical performance will be evaluated based on the criteria mentioned above. Students will be informed of their progress through periodic conferences and meetings with instructors.
All exams and course projects will be conducted according to the schedule set by the University of Health Sciences, Lahore.
Assignments must be submitted on time; otherwise, five marks will be deducted for late submission
A:-Professional Conduct and Responsibilities
In addition to meeting the academic standards of the College, students enrolled in nursing courses must demonstrate
professionalism in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. Their behavior and attitudes should align with the PNC Code
of Ethics, and they must adhere to the guidelines and standards of practice as outlined by the College and University.Students are
expected to respect the rights of others, regardless of race, religion, nationality, gender, age, sexual orientation, physical
condition, or mental state.The administrators and faculty of the undergraduate program reserve the right to interpret, maintain,
and enforce the standards of professional conduct and performance required for nursing.
Student Code of Conduct
1.
Students are required to adhere to the College’s rules and regulations.
2.
The College expects and demands honesty from all students.
3.
Any unethical behavior during examinations or elsewhere will result in irreversible dismissal from the College and will
be treated as a serious social misconduct
Withdrawal/Dismissal
The Principal and faculty reserve the right to recommend the withdrawal or dismissal of any student for the following reasons:
1.
Class or clinical attendance below 85%.
2.
Failure to meet the academic standards of the College.
3.
Violation of the College's rules and regulations.
4.
Engagement in conduct deemed unsatisfactory, illegal, or immoral, including but not limited to:
i.
Submitting false evidence.
ii.
Stealing.
iii.
Willful destruction of equipment, furniture, or property.
iv.
Physical violence against other students, faculty, staff, or patients.
v.
Use of drugs, possession of, or use of arms/weapons.
vi.
Violation of the civil rights of others and causing disturbances.
vii.
Nonpayment of fees without valid reasons.
5.
Prolonged absence from classes, clinical areas, lab practicals, or other scheduled instructions, as well as the inability to
cope with the curriculum, will also be grounds for dismissal.
Penalties (disciplinary action)
1.
In disciplinary cases, an explanation is required. If found guilty in minor cases, a written warning will be issued.
2.
For major infractions, an inquiry will be conducted under the Pakistan Nursing Council rules. If found guilty, strict action
will be taken against the student.
Migration
A student nurse cannot be migrated during the program.
Dress Codes
1.
Students are expected to wear a simple white shalwar, dupatta, shirt, and black shoes.
2.
Students must wear the prescribed uniform during clinical experiences as mandated by the Pakistan Nursing Council.
Clinical Standards
Theory and clinical practice are integrated and crucial; students must demonstrate competence in both theoretical and clinical
aspects.
Room Maintenance: Rooms must be kept clean and tidy at all times.
Prohibition of Provincialism: Advocating provincialism is strictly prohibited. Violators will face severe disciplinary actions.
Curfew Compliance: Returning to the hostel late at night without prior permission from the superintendent is a serious breach of hostel discipline.
Repeated Violations: Persistent violation of hostel rules will result in expulsion from the hostel.
Personal Belongings: Students are responsible for their belongings. The hostel authorities will not be liable for any loss or damage due to theft or other reasons.
Conduct Towards Staff: Misbehavior towards hostel staff, interference in their duties, or assigning them tasks outside their job scope will result in disciplinary action.
Weapons Ban: No firearms or weapons of any kind are allowed in the hostel.
Leaving the Hostel: No student may leave the hostel without obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the hostel superintendent.
Civic Responsibility: Disregard for civic sense, such as spitting in rooms, verandahs, or staircases, and improper disposal of waste, will be treated as a breach of discipline.
Facility Misuse: Misuse of sanitary fittings, furniture, or other fixtures, and inappropriate attire in common areas like TV lounges, dining halls, or reading rooms, is prohibited.
Cooking Prohibition: Cooking is not permitted in hostel rooms. Writing on walls, windows, or doors is forbidden, and the occupants of the room will be held responsible for any damage.
Room Changes: Students are not allowed to change rooms without the warden's permission.
Public Meetings: Attending public meetings or assemblies without prior permission from the principal is not allowed.
Damage Repair: Any damage caused by a student will be repaired at the student's expense.
Unauthorized Materials: Bringing unauthorized newspapers, periodicals, or magazines into the hostel is prohibited
Evening Roll Call: Every student must answer her name during the evening roll call. Names of absentees will be reported by the hostel superintendent.
Room Curfew: Students are prohibited from leaving their rooms after the roll call. Absence during roll call is considered a serious breach of discipline.
Weekend Permissions: No student may stay out overnight or spend the weekend outside the hostel without prior permission from the principal.
Electronic Devices: Mobile phones and tablets are not allowed in school, hostel, or hospital. Only laptops are permitted.
Visitor Access: The superintendent has the authority to refuse entry to any suspicious person attempting to enter the hostel
Permitted Visitors: Only pre-approved relatives, whose pictures have been attested by the parents and provided to the hostel superintendent, are allowed to visit students.
Prohibited Electrical Items: The use of electric heaters, gas heaters, stoves, or any electrically-operated machines or instruments is forbidden in the hostel.
Pets: Students are prohibited from bringing, keeping, or taming animals, including dogs, in the hostel.
Health Reporting: Any student with a health problem must report it immediately to the Hostel Superintendent for appropriate action.
Disciplinary Actions: Students found guilty of persistent violations of hostel rules may be suspended or dismissed from the hostel by the principal, based on the superintendent's recommendation.
Laundry: Washing clothes inside the hostel premises is not allowed. All residents must use the laundry facility provided by the institution.
The library is open to teaching staff, students of the college, and medical staff of the affiliated hospitals.
The library shall remain open on every working day till 2 p.m.
Silence and order must be maintained in the library at all times.
Books and journals will be issued to students only upon deposit of their identity card with the librarian
Students may borrow up to two books at a time for a period of seven days.
Any person who loses or damages a book is liable to replace it or pay the cost of its replacement.
A cash security deposit of Rs. 500 is compulsory for temporary teaching staff.
No student is permitted to keep a book for more than seven days

Attendance Policy
A.
Theory Classes
According to PNC/HEC rules (2006) students are expected to maintain 100% attendance in all theory classes.
However in case of emergency or sickness learners/students may miss up to 15% of classes cumulativety. If a student misses
more than 15% of classes in a semester/term she may be required to repeat the semester/term/year or could be withdrawn/
expelled from the programme if the issue persists. It is the responsibility of the learners/students to catch up on any missed
content due to justifiable reasons. in each academic year, students are allowed 18 days annual leave.
B.
Skill Lab/ Clinical
Learners/students are expected to maintain 100% attendance during clinical experience.
Absence from clinical must be recovered afterwards. A student who is unable to attend a clinical session due to sickness, must be
seen by a physician at their respective / designated institution.Clinical conferences are part of the clinical experience and must
be attended regularly.
C.
Internship policy
According to PNC/HEC (2006) guidelines the institution will be responsible for arranging internship for their graduates
in the PNC affiliated teaching hospitals. The purpose of the internship is to strengthen the knowledge and skills of their
graduates. Therefore, internship programs will be planned collaboratively between the College and the hospital to rotate student
through several clinical areas. The candidate will be required to submit a formal letter or certificate upon the completion of the
internship period to the Principal or Director of the respective College of Nursing. The certificate will be issued by the Nursing
Superintendent, Chief Nursing Superintendent, or Nursing Director of the affiliated hospital. The Director or Principal of the
College of Nursing will then send the final list of eligible candidates for the Licensure Examination to the Pakistan Nursing
Council (PNC). The degree will be awarded after the successful completion of the internship and passing the Licensure
Examination conducted by the PNC. During the one-year internship, students receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 28,500.
D.
Scholarship
At our college, during the four academic years, a scholarship of Rs. 10,000 per month is provided to the students.
Leaves and Holidays
1. Leave will be granted according to the schedule of the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, as laid out in the curriculum.
2. All recognized public holidays will be observed.
3. For extraordinary reasons, leave must be obtained from the Principal only and the concerned instructor must be informed
before the scheduled class.
4. Students absent from clinical experience must coordinate with their assigned clinical instructor to:
i. Deduct missed experience days from the annual leave.
ii. Make amicable arrangements with the course instructor to cover the missed content in order to fulfill course
objectives.
iii. In case of illness, the student will be responsible for informing the instructor with whom they have classes and
providing a medical certificate from DHQ Hospital, Mirpur
Students are expected to show mutual respect towards their teachers, staff, and classmates.
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a disciplined manner and develop a responsible outlook on life, which is essential for their professional careers after graduation.
Students are required to adhere to a code of ethics and disciplinary rules as outlined in the prospectus.
Any student who is absent without written information or notification for a continuous period of four weeks will be struck off the roll of the College of Nursing.
All periods of absence from the College of Nursing, except for sick leave up to four weeks, will result in the withholding of the stipend.
If a shortage of attendance is due to the student's deliberate absence, they shall be terminated from the program.In such cases, the student will be required to refund the total stipend amount to the government treasury that was paid to her.
